RaceTrac Takes Action During COVID-19 Crisis Supporting Team Members, Guests and Recognizing Essential Workers
Chain increases pay, provides free drinks to essential personnel, and offers an alternative way to shop
ATLANTA, (March 24, 2020) – Deemed an essential business by the Department of Homeland Security, RaceTrac stores across the south will remain open during the COVID-19 crisis providing fuel and food options for people still on the go. RaceTrac is announcing actions to support their team members, guests and the communities it serves including:
·Immediate $3 an hour pay increase to hourly store team members through April 2020
·Weekly $150 in extra pay for General Managers at the store level through April 2020
·A temporary COVID-19 leave policy allowing team members who test positive or who are required to quarantine due to this illness with an inability to work remotely to receive up to two weeks of pay
Introducing the Grab and Go Box - a new low contact shopping option. It’s easy, safe and open all day. Simply approach the Grab and Go Box outside, ask a team member to get your selected items, and pay on the spot. You can even call ahead and your items will be waiting and ready to go.
·Free small coffee or small fountain drink from March 24 to April 30 (limit one per day) for all essential workers such as first responders and hospital workers (uniform/valid ID required)
“RaceTrac is committed to providing our communities with the essentials they need during this time of great uncertainty,” said Melanie Isbill, Chief Marketing Officer of RaceTrac.“We want to recognize and support our employees who are making sure our guests, especially those on the front lines, are able to get whatever gets them going through a clean, safe and reliable experience.”
Because essential businesses and the people who staff them are so critical to our communities, RaceTrac is extending its longstanding policy of free “Crazy Good” coffee and fountain beverages for First Responders in uniform. Now included are all essential workers from doctors to support staff as well as truck drivers who keep the supply chain operating. Since not all of these workers wear a uniform, an ID badge is an acceptable form of identification.
In recognition of the value of the RaceTrac team to the operation of the stores in this increasingly complicated time, the organization is enacting an immediate $3 per hour temporary pay increase for hourly store employees. In addition, salaried employees at stores will receive an additional $150 per week.
RaceTrac holds itself to the highest food safety and cleanliness standards, and all of its more than 550 locations follow stringent hygiene and sanitation practices. In direct response to COVID-19, they are taking extra precautions and have enhanced cleaning measures, such as implementing social distancing procedures, continuously cleaning of high contact-areas, and a nightly store stand-down for cleaning and sanitization.
