We have a lot of information swarming in our minds. There’s a lot on our plates! But going into the new year, it’s a good idea to try and declutter your mind. It’ll help relieve some stress, and what’s better than going into the new year with a clear mind? It’s easier said than done though, we know, so here are some tips to help you.
- Declutter your physical space. Yes, physical clutter can make your mind clutter too. You get overstimulated because you can’t focus on just one thing and are more prone to getting distracted by the physical mess in front of you.
- Incorporate self-care activities. This can include yoga, deep breaths, jumping up and down, slowly drinking coffee or tea, petting your animal, reading a book, or taking a bath.
- Place time limits on your social media interactions. Think about if you really have a half hour to spend mindlessly scrolling on TikTok. If there’s no reason for you to be on social, spend that time on something else, like self-care.
- Control obsessive thinking. Ask yourself what you’re thinking and what’s triggering that emotion. Be honest with yourself.
